BIO

Versatile and engaging — that best describes the artistic journey of the young baritone Tom Van Bogaert.

He concludes the 2025–2026 season with the Chœur de Chambre de Namur, with Les Boréades, Die Zauberflöte and subsequently Pasion Argentina and Die Schöpfung.

Ensemble

Tom’s singing career began with the Sint-Niklaas boys’ choir Flanders Boys Choir (formerly In Dulci Jubilo) under the direction of Dieter Van Handenhoven.
Given this background, it is no surprise that Tom is deeply passionate about ensemble repertoire.

He has sung and continues to sing with ensembles including Ad Mosam, BachPlus, Bach in de Stad, CantoLX, Ex Tempore, La Petite Bande, VOLT Chamber Choir, Terra Nova Collective, the Flemish Radio Choir, the Chœur de Chambre de Namur and Capella Reial de Catalunya.

Within these ensembles, he has collaborated with conductors and musicians such as Bart Naessens, Florian Heyerick, Sigiswald Kuijken, Huub Ehlen, Jan Schweiger, Julien Chauvin, Camille Delaforge, Stephan MacLeod, Jos van Veldhoven, Bart Van Reyn, René Jacobs, Reinoud Van Mechelen, Leonardo García Alarcón, and Jordi Savall.

These collaborations have brought him to Belgium’s major concert halls as well as renowned international venues including the Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Philharmonie de Paris, Festival d’Ambronay, Festival de Saint-Denis, La Cité Bleue, Victoria Hall Geneva, Philharmonie Köln, Konzerthaus Dortmund, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, and Teatro Real Madrid.

Soloist

As a soloist, Tom is increasingly establishing himself within the concert repertoire.
He performs the standard works of the classical concert tradition, ranging from Monteverdi, Bach, Handel, and Mozart to contemporary composers such as Howard Goodall.

Opera / Music Theatre

In opera, Tom gained experience in the chorus of La Monnaie/De Munt as a member of the MM Academy, and as a soloist with the Midsummer Mozartiade in Die Zauberflöte and Handel’s Acis and Galatea.

In recent years, he has participated in several music theatre productions, including La Revanche de l’Arbre (Chœur de Chambre de Namur), Project Paradijs (Flemish Radio Choir), Teatro di Verzura (CantoLX), and Forêt Paisible (soloist with Chœur de Chambre de Namur).

Art Song

At the same time, Tom has a strong affinity for German, French, English, and American art song repertoire.
In recent seasons, he has performed music by Flemish composers for voice and harp, English repertoire with the Desguin Quartet, and last year Brahms’ Liebeslieder-Walzer.

Artistic Initiatives

After completing his vocal studies, Tom obtained a postgraduate degree in Cultural Management at Bruges Business School. He uses this expertise to help shape the ensembles and organisations he co-founded.

Together with Lucas Cortoos, Tom founded Opera Present, a young and dynamic opera company.

His most recent venture is Flanders Bach-Consort, an innovative and ambitious early music ensemble.

Background

Tom received his first singing lessons in Lokeren with Philippe Souvagie. In 2018, he obtained his bachelor’s degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp in the class of Gary Jankowski. In 2021, he graduated with great distinction from the Royal Conservatoire of Ghent in the class of Marcos Pujol.

He also received additional coaching from Drew Santini, An De Ridder, and Lucienne Van Deyck.

He attended masterclasses with Ed Lyon and Riccardo Novaro (as a member of the MM Academy), Maciej Pikulski, Delphine Galou, and Thomas Michael Allen.

In addition to his activities as a singer, Tom is also active as a teacher. In recent years, he has taught as a substitute teacher at the academies of Ronse, Wetteren, and Schaerbeek, and he currently teaches several private students.
